Futera United 2-0 Chamchuri United

Sun 25 Jan 2026, 16:00 – T3 (Bangkok Univ. Rangsit Stadium)

Futera United’s improved form continued as they recorded a deserved 2–0 victory over Chamchuri United, making it two wins from their last three games, with John Owoeri producing a stunning goal-of-the-season contender to put the result beyond doubt.

A real sense of belief surrounded the Bangkok University Stadium as Futera’s new-look side kicked off against a Chamchuri team boosted by the return of their university stars. Recent performances had instilled fresh confidence in the home side, who began the game brightly, pressing aggressively, winning their challenges and moving the ball with greater speed and purpose than in previous outings.

Futera took the lead in the 11th minute when Champ’s free-kick caused chaos in the Chamchuri defence. Under pressure from Park, the centre-back misjudged his header and sent the ball into the path of Phu, who volleyed home to give the hosts the perfect start.

Moments later, Phu almost doubled the advantage when he cut in from the right flank before unleashing a powerful left-footed drive that looked destined for the bottom corner, only for the Chamchuri goalkeeper to produce a smart save low to his left.

Futera continued to cause problems, with Net and Fanta posing a constant threat down the left flank, while Champ marshalled the midfield, breaking up opposition attacks and distributing the ball with intelligence. Chamchuri offered little going forward, with a deep cross misjudged by Film proving their only genuine threat in an otherwise toothless first-half display.

The second half began with Chamchuri making four substitutions, but it was the home side who continued to apply the pressure in search of a second goal. In the 62nd minute, the impressive Park stepped out from defence before laying the ball off to Beem, who produced a sublime through pass with the outside of his left foot to release substitute Guy clean through on goal. However, the young forward’s well-struck effort drifted narrowly wide of the post.

Five minutes later, Park again surged forward from defence to release John Owoeri, whose angled drive rippled the side netting. The experienced forward would not be denied, and in the 76th minute he produced a moment of pure magic. Receiving the ball on the left flank, his clever dummy left the Chamchuri centre-back trailing in his wake before he powered towards goal and, from 25 yards, unleashed a sensational strike that flew into the top corner to give Futera a deserved 2–0 lead.

Futera’s outstanding defence saw out the remainder of the contest, with the visitors unable to fashion a single clear-cut chance, and the referee’s final whistle confirmed a fine all-round performance and a valuable three points for the home side.

For me, this felt like a pivotal moment in the season. The team were excellent throughout and are beginning to look like a disciplined, professional unit. The two Korean defenders were outstanding, both willing to put their bodies on the line when required. Bas was immense, while Fanta’s non-stop energy and willingness to surge up and down the left flank proved a real asset. Champ’s calming influence cannot be overstated; he consistently raises the level of those around him.

And what more can be said about John Owoeri? His goal was truly outstanding, but what impressed me most was his commitment in the 80th minute, when he tracked back the length of the pitch to help out defensively. The experience of both Owoeri and Champ is invaluable to this young Futera side.

An excellent three points for Futera, but there is no room for complacency. With this level of performance, they can travel to Kasem Bundit next week with confidence and aim for another positive result as they continue to look up the table rather than down. Futera SuSu.
