Futera United rounded off another encouraging pre-season outing with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Thai League 2 side Nakhon Pathom United, producing a performance that suggested they deserved even more. The hosts took the lead in unfortunate fashion when a cruel deflection fell perfectly into the path of their striker, leaving him with the simplest of tap-ins. Futera responded well and deservedly levelled before the break. Pup’s excellent work down the left created the opening, with Beem seeing his initial effort blocked before reacting quickest to thunder the rebound into the roof of the net for 1-1. The third period remained evenly contested until controversy struck. Nakhon Pathom regained the lead with what appeared to be an offside goal, as Futera’s defenders momentarily stopped expecting the whistle. Play continued, the initial effort crashed against the crossbar, and the rebound was converted to make it 2-1. Rather than let their heads drop, Futera continued to push forward and were rewarded late on. Fanta produced the moment of the match, curling a magnificent strike from around 30 yards beyond the goalkeeper and into the top corner to earn a deserved equaliser. Against higher-level opposition and with a heavily depleted squad, Futera were arguably the better side throughout and created enough opportunities to win the game. It was another strong pre-season display that showed the character, quality and growing belief within the squad as preparations for the new campaign continue.
