Futera United fell to a 2–0 defeat against Assumption United in another valuable pre-season test, with both goals coming during the second and third periods following defensive mistakes.

The opening period produced plenty of positives, with the starting XI looking organised, competitive and comfortable in possession against strong opposition. The defensive unit remained solid throughout, while the midfield controlled large spells of the game. Que led by example with an excellent all-round display, supported well by Beem and an industrious Champ, who impressed despite only recently recovering from illness.

Going forward, Heng, James and Song all showed encouraging signs, creating dangerous moments and linking play well whenever opportunities arose.

As the game progressed and wholesale changes were made, Futera naturally lost some rhythm. Assumption capitalised on two defensive errors to score the only goals of the afternoon, but the result did not overshadow the value of giving important minutes to the wider squad. Several younger and fringe players were tested in difficult conditions, with the experience providing another useful step in their development. Young PSW winger Nest was one of the bright performers during the later stages.

Overall, there were plenty of positives to take from the afternoon. The first group once again demonstrated encouraging progress, while the extended squad gained valuable match experience against quality opposition. With another month remaining before the season begins, the focus remains on improving fitness, building consistency and ensuring every player is ready to contribute when called upon.
