TM FC 0 - 4 Futera United

Updated: Jul 8, 2022

22nd May 2022 - 16:00hrs Thai / 09:00hrs GMT - BPL 4

TM Academy were the opponents as Futera United resumed Bangkok Premier League duties, hoping to exorcise their TA disappointment with a resounding victory. The foreign contingent of Gael, Fofana and Gao would all start along with Poom at centre-back and Don in the midfield as selected by the NFT holders.

Futera brimming with confidence, after their TA heroics, started brightly and should have gone ahead inside the first five minutes. A delightful ball over the top of the TM defence played in Gael who with only the keeper to beat fired over. Minutes later a fine Futera move culminated with Fofana firing in a low shot that was well saved by the TM keeper. Futera were totally dominant, with the front three looking very sharp. Phu rattled the crossbar with a thunderous strike from distance and Gael went close after good work from Don and Phu. In the 40th minute with the Futera faithful starting to get a little frustrated, Katang received the ball in his own half and drove forward. Intelligently, spotting the TM keeper of his line he produced a delightful chip, from fully 30 yards, that sailed into the goal to give Futera a richly deserved half time lead.

The second half began with Futera once again dominating possession. The multiple substitutions seemed to upset our rhythm and despite lots of the ball we were unable to produce any clear cut chances. The second half was developing into a rather insipid affair, with the ball being moved slowly by Futera and the TM players seemingly poleaxed after every challenge, resulting in countless stoppages. Finally in the 70th minute a crossfield ball from Nu saw Few through on goal, only to be scythed down by the TM centre-back. From the resulting free-kick, skipper Jew smashed the ball into the top left hand corner to make the score 2-0. This ignited Futera and their intensity increased, with 10 minutes remaining, Boss beat two defenders in the box before poking home, for his second of the season. In the 82nd minute an excellent Futera team move resulted in a cute reverse ball from Few that allowed Boss to stride into the box and drive a low shot into the bottom left corner of the goal for his second of the game. The final whistle followed with the final score 4-0 to Futera United.

It was good to get back to winning ways after the TA exploits and we remain unbeaten in the Bangkok Premier League. Overall, this was not one of our better displays, I thought we were slow and rather pedestrian in possession with no real cutting edge. However, the four goals we scored were excellent and if we can win 4-0 when we are not at our best that is a huge plus. Pang, as always, was excellent and Boss’ two goals will give him confidence. I still feel we are the team to beat in this division and can’t wait for Assanee FC next week.
